1. Scope
This policy applies to everyone who uses Archus Lab and to every message sent through it. It forms part of the Terms of Service. Where this policy is stricter than the law, this policy governs your use of our Service.
2. Opt-in is required
You may send a template message to a person only if that person has given prior opt-in to receive messages from your business on WhatsApp, at the number you are messaging.
- The opt-in must be given by the person themselves, be specific to your business, and make clear they will be messaged on WhatsApp.
- You must record the source and date of the opt-in. Archus Lab stores this on the contact record, and it must be truthful.
- Purchased, rented, scraped, or third-party lists are never a valid opt-in, however they were compiled.
- An opt-in given to a different brand, a different channel, or a former owner of the business does not transfer.
How this is enforced in the product. A contact with no recorded opt-in cannot be selected as the recipient of a template message. Bulk send tools exclude such contacts rather than warning about them.
3. Opt-out must work
- Every template message that is not a direct reply must give a clear way to stop receiving them.
- Archus Lab recognises opt-out keywords in inbound messages and marks the contact opted out immediately. Template sends to that contact are then blocked at send time.
- You must not message an opted-out contact through another number, another workspace, or another channel to work around their choice.
- You must not make opting out conditional on anything, or bury it.
4. A person must be reachable
Automation may route, acknowledge, and answer common questions. It may not be a dead end. Every workspace must keep a working path to a human being — Archus Lab provides a handover keyword and an escalation control in the shared inbox — and must staff it well enough to answer within a reasonable time during the hours you advertise.
5. Prohibited content
You must not use Archus Lab to send messages that:
- are unlawful, defamatory, harassing, threatening, or hateful, or that incite violence;
- are sexually explicit, or that sexualise or endanger minors in any way;
- promote illegal drugs, weapons, ammunition, explosives, or regulated goods where you are not licensed to sell them;
- promote gambling, tobacco, vaping, alcohol, adult services, or pharmaceuticals in breach of the rules of the recipient's jurisdiction or of Meta's commerce policies;
- are deceptive: phishing, false claims about identity, fake offers, fabricated urgency, or misleading medical or financial claims;
- promote multi-level marketing, "get rich quick" schemes, unlicensed lending, or cryptocurrency investment offers;
- infringe intellectual property, or misuse someone else's brand;
- contain malware or links intended to compromise the recipient.
6. Prohibited conduct
- Bulk unsolicited messaging. Archus Lab is not a broadcast tool for cold outreach and must not be used as one.
- Impersonation. Your display name and message content must accurately identify your business. Do not present yourself as Meta, WhatsApp, Archus Lab, a government body, or another company.
- Evasion. Do not rotate numbers, workspaces, or entities to escape rate limits, quality ratings, blocks, or suspension.
- Data misuse. Do not export contact data to sell it, and do not process it for purposes your contacts would not expect.
- Platform abuse. Do not scrape, reverse engineer, penetration-test without written permission, or interfere with the Service or with other customers.
- Reselling access. Do not give third parties access to your workspace to message their own contacts.
7. Meta and WhatsApp policies
Because messages travel over the WhatsApp Business Platform, you must also comply with Meta's own rules, including the WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy, the WhatsApp Business Terms of Service, and Meta's Commerce Policies. Where Meta's rules are stricter than this policy, Meta's rules apply. Meta may independently restrict or remove your account, and we must act on its decisions.
8. How we enforce this
We monitor for policy breaches through:
- opt-in and consent checks applied at send time;
- block rate, complaint rate, and the quality rating Meta reports for your number;
- reports from recipients and from Meta.
Depending on severity we may:
| Step | When | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Notice | First or minor breach | We write to your workspace administrators and ask you to correct it within a stated period. |
| Throttle | Quality or complaint signals deteriorate | We limit template sending volume while you fix the cause. |
| Suspend | Serious or uncorrected breach | Sending is stopped. The inbox stays readable so you can answer people already in a conversation. |
| Terminate | Severe breach, or repeat after suspension | The subscription ends under section 12 of the Terms. Data is handled per Data deletion. |
For unlawful content, harm to minors, or an active security threat we act immediately and without prior notice.
9. Report a problem
If you received a message through Archus Lab that breached this policy — or one you never opted in to — tell us and we will investigate.
reportabuse@archuslab.com
Include the sending business's name, the number that messaged you, and the date. We
acknowledge reports within 2 business days.
To stop receiving messages from a specific business, replying STOP in that conversation is the fastest route, and Archus Lab honours it immediately.
